Activities Conducted in Academic Year 2018-19:
Tatva, the Eco Club of Ramanujan College commenced the Academic Session 2018-19 with the selection of new office bearers through interview process. The following activities were conducted during academic year 2018-19
- On Raksha Bandhan, Eco Club celebrated “Vrikshabandhan”– a bond between us and the trees. The day witnessed a unique initiative of protecting environment wherein the college Principal, teachers and students tied Rakhi to the trees and promised to protect them. The event was conducted near College Canteen on 24th August 2018. This innovative initiative was applauded by everyone.
- An E-Waste Drive was organised in collaboration with Department of Environmental Studies in the college from 17-28 September 2018 in which students as well as teachers participated.
- Eco Club organized an Orientation Programme on 5th September 2018 which was held in Ghalib Conference Room. The event not only welcomed the new members but it was also a platform to launch the Official Website of Tatva. The programme was graced by Dr. B.C. Sabata, Senior Scientific Officer, Department of Environment, Government of NCT of Delhi as Chief Guest. The weblink of our official Eco Club Website is: http://www.tatvarcdu.in
Eco Club and Department of Environmental Studies organized an Inter-college competition “Triathlon of Knowledge – 2”; which was held on 26th September, 2018 on the theme: “Biodiversity and its Conservation”. The competition comprised of 2 rounds: Declamation Round and Quiz Round. The occasion was graced by Dr. Vinay Shankar, Department of Botany, Deshbandhu College as the Chief Guest and Judge of the Declamation Competition. A total of 19 teams from various colleges of University of Delhi participated in the event.
- An Outreach Programme was conducted in collaboration with Pathshala on 3rd October 2018 in the nearby slums for cleanliness and plantation drive.
- Happier Day was celebrated in collaboration with Equal Opportunity Cell under the aegis of School of Happiness on 1st November 2018 in the college grounds. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Rajesh Bhatt, Professor, IIT Delhi and holding a degree of PhD in artificial intelligence. His motivational and inspirational speech was followed by two interesting games. The first game was named Just A Minute; in which teachers picked up chits from the bowl and whosoever name came had to deliver a speech about any happier movement of their life. In the second game, ten students spoke on different topics related to happiness like Health, heart, hand and happiness, plenteousness, payback, intuitive, natural, empathy and self-compassioned.
- As a part of Anti-Cracker Campaign, a Flash Mob was conducted in classrooms of the college illustrating the harmful impacts of bursting crackers. Also, an online photography competition was also conducted based on the theme of cracker-free Diwali.
Student Achievements:
- Eco Club students got an opportunity to be a part of an interactive audience for the special campaign Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India on 13th September, 2017 in Archana Shopping Complex, Greater Kailash-1, New Delhi. Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India is an audience based interactive panel discussion that airs on NDTV 24×7. Banega Swacch India is a campaign to promote sanitation and hygiene among all. The show consisted of over 50-60 people as audience and 3-4 panel members were invited to the show who help steer the discussion along with anchor person Mr. Vikram Chandra. This edition of the show questioned, what a citizen can do to promote Swacch India.
- Two students of Eco Club participated in the celebration of “International Ozone Day” on 17th September 2018 organized by Department of Environment, Government of NCT of Delhi in the Auditorium Delhi Secretariat.
