Recent Trends in Domination and Graph Labellings (RTDGL 2021)

Organized by the Department of Mathematics, Ramanujan College in collaboration with the Academy of Discrete Mathematics and Applications (ADMA)

The workshop on Recent Trends in Domination and Graph Labellings (RTDGL 2021) held from May 27th to May 31st, 2021, proved to be a remarkable platform for the exchange of knowledge and insights in the field of graph theory. The event witnessed a significant participation of 584 attendees from across 34 states and union territories, including 3 registrations from abroad, emphasizing the global interest in the subject matter.

The workshop featured 11 distinguished resource persons, each renowned in the field of Domination in Graphs:

  • Prof. Ambat Vijayakumar - Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala
  • Prof. Deepa Sinha - South Asian University, Delhi
  • Prof. Fr. Joseph Varghese - CHRIST (Deemed University), Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • Prof. G. Sethuraman - Anna University, Tamil Nadu
  • Prof. Mukti Acharya - CHRIST (Deemed University), Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • Prof. Paulraj Joseph - Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamil Nadu
  • Prof. Purnima Gupta - Former Director (2018-21), Central Board of Directors, State Bank of India
  • Prof. Samir K. Vaidya - Saurashtra University, Gujarat
  • Prof. S. Arumugam - Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Tamil Nadu
  • Prof. Suresh M Hegde - National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Karnataka
  • Prof. Tarkeshwar Singh - BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus, Goa

The workshop delved into various aspects of Domination in Graphs, covering emerging research fields and applications. Some of the key topics included:

  • Domination in Graphs: An Emerging Field of Research
  • Power Domination Problem
  • Domination in Graphoidally Covered Graphs
  • Nordhaus-Gaddum Type Results for Derived Graphs in Domination Theory
  • Point-Set Domination in Graphs
  • Some New Research Directions in Domination
  • Graph Labelings and Applications
  • Magic, Supermagic, and Antimagic Labeling
  • Product Cordial Graphs: New Perspective
  • Additively Graceful Signed Graphs
  • Full Friendly Index Set
  • Graph Labelling in Graph Decompositions

Several participants expressed their enthusiasm and appreciation for the workshop content. Dr. Sapna Nagar highlighted the antimagic and magic labeling session as particularly interesting and expressed eagerness to explore the implementation in future seminars. Gowtham Priya L found the link between graph labeling and domination insightful, providing valuable ideas for further exploration in their research. MujeebuRahman found the lecture on fractional domination with magic labeling particularly beneficial, expressing a desire to apply it to fuzzy concepts in their research work. Dr. K. Kayathri, one of the participants, emphasized the workshop's impact on unveiling new research avenues. They specifically noted the characterization of graphs with given magic index as an intriguing problem, highlighted the applications of strongly k-indexable graphs, and expressed the novelty of the Power Domination Problem.

RTDGL 2021 successfully brought together scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts, providing a platform to explore and discuss recent trends, challenges, and emerging concepts in the dynamic field of domination and graph labelings. The workshop's comprehensive coverage of topics and the valuable insights shared by renowned resource persons have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the participants, fostering continued exploration and advancement in this field.
