The Department of Mathematics along with RamanuGen: The Mathematics Society organized a series of academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the online as well as offline mode in the academic session 2023-24 for the overall growth and development of the students and faculty members.
The session 2023-24 started with an orientation programme on 16th August 2023. The freshers' orientation at Ramanujan College was a resounding success, providing an engaging and informative welcome to the new batch of students. The event was meticulously organized to ensure a smooth transition for the newcomers into the college community. The students were introduced to the faculty members of the department and informed about the course structures, various societies of the college along with the RAMANUGEN: The Mathematics Society. Dr. Virendra Kumar, Teacher In-Charge, Department of Mathematics, guided freshers about learning new things, new skills and encouraged the freshers to participate in extra circular activities.
The Fresher’s Party “Aagaz’23” was organized to welcome the newly admitted students of Batch 2023-27 on 7 August 2023. The first-year students as well as their seniors gave scintillating performances in the online mode with great enthusiasm and energy. The Freshers’ Event was an unquestionable success, marked by lovely performances, outstanding talents, and a sense of generosity among the freshers. It provided our new students with cherished memories and set the stage for an exciting academic journey ahead.
On August 22, 2023, the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) under the Centre of Indian Knowledge System Ramanujan College, organised a one-day workshop focused on the theme of "Intelligence Building." The workshop aimed to explore the realm of memory encoding, discovering intrinsic strengths, and unlocking the potential of the human brain.
Dr. Jeetender Kumar captivated the audience with his profound knowledge in brain science, particularly focusing on memory enhancement and concentration elevation through the employment of extra sensory perception. His discourse introduced attendees to the intriguing concept of meta-learning, the art of optimal recall, and techniques for optimizing brain function. Engaging the attendees, he did interactive sessions involving various brain-stimulating activities, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences. Highlight of the event was the remarkable demonstration by Riya, the daughter of Dr. Jeetender Kumar. She showcased exceptional abilities, including ambidextrous writing, reading with blind folded eyes, and other impressive feats that left the audience in awe of the human brain's capabilities. In retrospect, the workshop served as a catalyst for thought provoking insights, leaving an indelible impact on the minds of the participants. The culmination of this intellectually stimulating event was marked by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Virendra Kumar, the TIC of Department of Mathematics, Ramanujan College. The day had indeed been a profound journey into the vast realm of intelligence, memory, and cognitive potential.
A National workshop on "Brain Balancing" and "Hypnosis" was organised on 13 October 2023. The workshop was designed to explore the fascinating realms of "Brain Balancing" and "Hypnosis", aiming to equip participants with valuable tools for self-improvement. Dr. Jeetender Kumar, the resource person in the fields of brain balancing and hypnosis, delivered an insightful presentation, sharing his extensive knowledge and practical techniques with the participants. The audience was captivated by his expertise and his ability to make complex concepts accessible. Demo by Dr. Jeetender Kumar's Daughter, RIYA, added a unique dimension to the workshop. She showcased practical applications of brain balancing and hypnosis techniques, allowing the participants to witness the power of these methods in action. Her engaging and interactive demonstration left a lasting impression on the attendees.
RAMANUGEN: The Mathematics Society of Ramanujan College hosted an engaging event "QuantumQonnect" on 31st October 2023. The event was comprised of two parts one speaker session by Prof. Anand, OP Jindal Global University followed by an inter-college quiz competition. Prof. Anand, an experienced academician, enlightened the audience on various career prospects both within India and abroad. He provided valuable insights into the pathways that individuals interested in mathematics could pursue, emphasizing the significance of making informed decisions and aligning personal interests with career goals. Prof. Anand's session served as a comprehensive guide for the attendees, enabling them to explore the diverse opportunities available within the realm of mathematics. His talk offered a broader perspective on the potential trajectories that students could consider, fostering a deeper understanding of the field's global prospects. Prof. Anand's session on diversifying career aspects in law and advocating for women's empowerment highlighted the crucial role of inclusivity and adaptability in shaping the future of the legal profession.
The society organized a stimulating quiz competition that drew participants from various colleges within Delhi University. The quiz, 'Mindtrix,' aimed to test the participants' mental agility and mathematical process. In total, 45 enthusiastic participants engaged in a 20-minute intense intellectual challenge, showcasing their proficiency and quick thinking. Despite the impressive turnout, only 10 participants demonstrated exceptional aptitude and advanced to the second round. With the promising display of talent, RamanuGen’s efforts in promoting mathematical engagement and critical thinking among students were visibly Noteworthy. A lecture series was organised by the department of mathematics on 24 November 2023. Dr. Amitanshu, Scientist, Défense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) was invited to enlighten the students about the Career Opportunities in DRDO. Dr. Amitanshu highlighted that only a minor part of the audience had prior knowledge about DRDO, emphasizing the necessity for increased awareness. He proceeded to demystify DRDO’s role, fostering a deeper understanding among attendees. Dr. Amitanshu elucidated on the significance of DRDO’s logo, symbolizing its secretive yet strategic nature and commitment to national security. Participants learned about DRDO's pivotal role as a think tank and knowledge hub in defense advancements.
The motto, "Strength’s Origin is in Knowledge," encapsulates DRDO's mission to utilize knowledge for national defense. Dr. Amitanshu outlined numerous areas where mathematics students can contribute to DRDO, including big data, weapons systems, cybersecurity, and advanced radar technology. The session explored various technological domains such as counter-drone technology, robotics, blockchain applications, electronic surveillance, and space-based technologies, offering diverse career opportunities. Dr. Amitanshu elucidated the recruitment process, highlighting CEPTAM exams for undergraduates and GATE qualification for postgraduates aiming for Scientist positions. The process involves interviews, psychological assessments, and thorough medical examinations for successful candidates.The speaker emphasized the vibrant trajectory of career advancement within DRDO, underscoring that dedication and exceptional contributions pave the path to promotions. The organization highly esteems individuals who consistently augment their skills and knowledge.
Dr. Amitanshu not only enhanced the audience's understanding of DRDO's pivotal role but also provided valuable insights into the array of career opportunities within this esteemed organization. Held at Ghalib Auditorium, the speaker session skilfully blended tradition and knowledge, featuring a cultural inauguration and addressing key information gaps while emphasizing DRDO's dual role as a think tank.
Another guest speaker, Mr. Anil Kumar, Vedic Ganit Expert, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Delhi, was invited on 24 November 2023 to conduct a workshop on Vedic Mathematics. This workshop aimed to introduce participants to the ancient Indian system of mathematics known as Vedic Mathematics. The workshop gathered mathematics enthusiastic students who are eager to explore and apply the principles of Vedic mathematics in their daily mathematical tasks. The workshop kickstarted with an overview of the history and of Vedic Mathematics, highlighting its roots in ancient Indian texts. Participants gained insight into the unique techniques that make Vedic Mathematics distinctive. The speaker introduced the students about the core of Vedic Mathematics i.e. Sutras (aphorisms) and techniques. Participants were introduced to the following key Sutras and also learned techniques for rapid mental calculation and simplification.

The speaker also enlightened the students about Bodhyana Number. The Baudhāyana Śulvasūtra states the rule referred to today in most of the world as the Pythagorean Theorem. He also taught how to calculate sum and diiference of Bhodyana numbers which are very useful in the field of trigonometry. The Vedic Mathematics Workshop successfully achieved its objectives by equipping participants with valuable insights into the ancient mathematical system. Attendees expressed enthusiasm about incorporating Vedic Maths techniques into their academic and professional lives, acknowledging the efficiency and simplicity these methods offer.

Academic Results
The students of Batch 2020-23 performed exceptionally well in the Examinations 2023. Anurag Singh and Ashish Kashayap both were top performers and secured 9.63 CGPA. Neha Kumari secured 9.25 CGPA to achieve the second position in the class, however Janhvi and Mahak stood third jointly in the class with CGPA scores 9.0 CGPA.
Scholarships
Three students (Dev Goyal, Achal Singhal and Kartik Patel) of Batch 2021-24 received National Scholarship 2022-23 by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India worth Rs. 10,000 per annum for a duration of three years.

Ankit (Batch 2015-18) joined the ministry of statistics and programme implementation as a junior statistical officer in January 2024.
Satyanand Subhash (Batch 2017-20) has cleared EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) SSA exam and will serve as Social Security Assistant form January 2024 onwards.
Dharmendra Kumar (2018-21) cleared SSC CGL 2023 and selected as Executive Assistant in CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs).
Kapil Lohia (Batch 2018-21) becomes an Associate Math Quality Assurance Engineer in Light & Wonder, Inc., formerly Scientific Games Corporation: An American corporation.
Aaryan (2018-21) after completing M.Sc. in Data Science from VIT Vellore, he has joined TCS, Noida as a System Engineering since Oct 2023.
