Multiple Entry and Exit Scheme in NEP
Delhi University (DU) offers multiple exit options under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 through its Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF). Students can pause their studies at the end of any even semester and re-enter within a stipulated time frame to complete their degree.
The 4 Exit Options at DU
You can exit your undergraduate program at specific intervals and receive the corresponding qualification:
- After 1 Year (Semester II): Requires 44 credits. You exit with an Undergraduate Certificate in your field of study.
- After 2 Years (Semester IV): Requires 88 credits. You exit with an Undergraduate Diploma.
- After 3 Years (Semester VI): Requires 132 credits. You exit with a Bachelor’s Degree / Honours Degree (the standard 3-year graduation equivalent).
- After 4 Years (Semester VIII): Requires 176 credits. You graduate with an Honours Degree, or Honours with Research/Entrepreneurship.
Key Rules & Requirements
- Credit Tracking: Credits are securely stored in the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and are valid for a specific period.
- Re-entry: Students who exit midway can re-enter DU in the upcoming academic session to resume studies from their next level.
