Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Environmental Science
Ramanujan College, affiliated with the University of Delhi, is the pioneering institution within Delhi University to offer a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Environmental Science under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS, 2021-2024) and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) from 2022 onwards. This specialized undergraduate program is strategically designed to equip students with a thorough understanding of contemporary environmental challenges and empower them to develop viable solutions to critical ecological issues.
The course provides students with a deep understanding of contemporary environmental issues, developing their ability to devise effective solutions to pressing ecological problems.
It is carefully structured to blend theoretical learning with extensive practical experiences, empowering students to tackle real-world environmental challenges comprehensively.
Each subject in the curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to emphasize practical skills and interdisciplinary knowledge, addressing vital areas such as sustainability, resource management, environmental pollution, ecological conservation, and environmental policy.
Further, the program is evolving into a four-year graduation course, incorporating an advanced research component in its final year. This enhancement under NEP 2020 is designed to inculcate critical analysis, innovative thinking, and practical problem-solving abilities, preparing graduates to make meaningful contributions to environmental sustainability on local, national, and global scales.
AEC: Environmental Science I and II.
The Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) on Environmental Science is a compulsory component offered to all undergraduate students under Delhi University. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP, 2020), the course is structured into two semester modules (part I and II), taught over the first two years of undergraduate studies.
It encompasses critical environmental topics, including ecology, natural resource management, environmental pollution, and the social impacts of environmental challenges.
By imparting foundational knowledge on these pressing issues, the course aims to cultivate environmental consciousness among students, empowering them to contribute meaningfully towards national-level sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.
